In 2014, we continued the implementation of our corporate strategy aiming for our long-term CR goal to create value for our stakeholders. Among other things, we launched a number of new offerings and innovative IT services and solutions, which will help our customers to benefit from the ongoing digitalization and also support sustainable development in society. We also strengthened our financial performance with improved underlying margins. In addition, we made philanthropic donations, which we hope will support children and young people in some of our operating countries to pursue their future dreams.
Highlights from 2014:
- Our operating margin excluding one-off items rose closer to the target level and was 9.9% (8.8).
- Our electronic transaction services and other digital services replacing paper helped to reduce 217 594 tons of CO2 for our customers.
- Together with charitable trust Identity Foundation, India, we reached more than 7 000 underprivileged children in Pune, India, in 2014.
We started to explore ways to reduce energy consumption of data centres already in 1978. In 2014, our energy recycling solutions in data centres helped to reduce CO2 emissions by 1 711.1 tons.
